I finally had a chance to try this mask that's been in my to-try list for.... weeks! At Zen Aesthetic we recently got the Merbliss Wedding Dress masks and after putting off the review for a while, it's finally happening! The mask I'm reviewing today is the Merbliss Wedding Dress Emerald Aloe Honey Mask and the biggest reason why I put off this review for so long was because well... I don't really like the smell of honey and I wasn't sure if it was going to create a reaction.. but well I'm here to try things out so why not give it a try? With that, let's go ahead with the review~ My first thoughts... was... will I like this mask? I never really liked the smell of honey (the BNBG Manuka Honey mask was way too much) but I thought it won't be that bad since it's also got aloe. When I first opened the mask, I made sure to take a big whiff of the smell and well, I can tell you that it really wasn't that strong. It was a very subtle smell of honey but it was pretty refreshing and not too overpowering. Normally with masks that contain honey, I'll leave it on my face for just the suggested time and take it off because the smell always ends up being pretty strong but with this one, I could leave it on the whole time I was writing this review! Let's start with what's actually in this mask.
Now let's talk about the mask itself now that we know what's in it. The mask is 0.2mm thick (about 0.008 inches) which is very thin. When you put it on, it seems very sheer and see through. You can see this fact in the picture below: Super thin, right? Because of how thin the sheet is, it really does cling onto your skin a lot better than regular thicker sheet masks. Usually when I write reviews with a mask on, I would need to readjust the mask because it would continually slide down. Also, because the mask does not contain any harmful chemicals, it's safe to use even with sensitive and easily irritating skin types. One cool fact about this mask is that the sheet is made from Eucalyptus trees! So it's 100% natural. Now I guess is the most important part when buying masks: the essence The texture of the essence is kind of like... a soothing gel. It's clear and gel-like and it's definitely NOT runny. Another positive about this mask is that it contains A LOT of essence. On the packaging, it says the whole thing is about 30g. With the sheet being very thin, it sounded as if there was going to be a lot of left over essence. With that thought, I found a small travel/sample size cream container and a measuring cup. You can see how much essence there is below: As you can see from the photo on the left, it looks like the essence reaches about a quarter of the measuring cup.
(The cup was wrapped with saran wrap since I didn't want it to get sticky and I didn't want things in the excess essence) The photo on the right is when I tried to put in all of the excess essence in a travel container that was about 10mL. It was overflowing so I had to use some on my hands and put another layer of the essence on the mask that was on my face in order to properly close the container. So I concluded that there's at least 10mL of EXCESS essence which means in total there's at least 20mL. That's probably the most excess essence I've ever seen with sheet masks! I saved the excess so I can use it as a soothing gel since... well.. it seems like the same thing. Overall, I'd rate the mask a solid 9 out of 10. Everything seems great until you take the mask off. The essence does leave a bit of a sticky residue but it's about the same stickiness you'd feel after putting on soothing gels. If you'd like to try out these masks, let me know and I can get you a couple from my work (Zen Aesthetic) or if you live around the Bay Area you can always visit the store yourself and check out the masks we carry! We have so many masks you'll have a hard time deciding but that's what I'm here for right? If not you can get the mask through:
